Rugger Blog History

In the fall of 2004, Jason Gatties launched “Rugger Blog” on Blogger.com as he felt there was a lack of rugby related blogs in the United States.  Although Rugger Blog began as a blog that focused only on the USA Eagles, USA College Rugby & USA Rugby’s Super League, it would slowly grow to include coverage of the Guinness Premiership, Celtic League (Magners), Heineken Cup & IRB International competitions.

In September 2007, Jason closed Rugger Blog and opened “TryGol.com” in it’s place. The blog would focus on both rugby & soccer, two of Jason’s favorite sports. The blog quickly became very popular with readers of both sports, but unfortunately, it grew too big for one man to run. Jason closed TryGol.com in the spring of 2009.

Jason recently launched “CravenCottage.us“, which would focus on news from Jason’s favorite soccer club, Fulham FC. However, former TryGol.com visitors wanted Jason to cover rugby once again. Due to popular demand, Jason decided to re-launch his original rugby blog, Rugger Blog, in late August 2009.

The “new” Rugger Blog will focus on the Guinness Premiership, Magners League, Heineken Cup, Euro Challenge Cup, Super 14 & International Competitions. The London Wasps, Munster, Wales & of course, USA Rugby, will get special attention.  Jason will also provide USA Eagle supporters with updates regarding Eagles who are playing abroad and a weekly TV Schedule with viewing options for those who live in the United States.
